These girls are not damned and in various stages of death...they are in a living hell for sure but it can be overcome if we as a society cared enough to help lost souls rather than just throw them in prison or step over them on the sidewalk. But that would require a shift in peoples consciousness, rather than the "they did it to themselves so fuck 'em" line of thought. Some won't change no matter what but the majority want to but can't find a way out.
