#14 | 12 Sep 2009 09:29 by BoboMatrix

IYFZZZ,

This is called the sky burial in Tibet. Since it is believe that a person re-incarnates after dying the body serves no real purpose. There is no need to preserve the body, as it is now an empty vessel. Birds may eat it, or nature may let it decompose. The body is cut in specific places, and left on a mountain top, exposing it to the elements. According to Buddhist teaching, this makes it easier for the soul of the deceased to move on from the uncertain plane between life and death onto the next life. So as barbaric as this might look, there is an actual purpose to this.

I don't want to be embalmed and buried in a box only to become some disgusting coffin liquor. I would much rather be eaten by vultures.

#20 | 15 Sep 2009 02:36 by MrProsser

I really do not understand negative feelings towards this. I have to ask, why is this strange, why relations like "wtf" etc. Is it more natural to embalm someone, stick them in a box, and toss them in the ground? This is far better for the environment, the birds get a meal, and do what they do naturally. I would be happy to have this done.

this is awesome, what a great post! I wish I could be memorialized this way. The perfect Buddhist burial: no creatures are harmed (digging kills worms and such), but are in fact benefited by your death (the vultures).

In the US, there are some places where a person can be legally buried simply wrapped in a sheet or blanket, without embalming, and with a simple marker or tree to mark the grave. Is a sky burial legal anywhere in the US?

#57 | 22 Sep 2009 12:02 by Zar

First of all I think the guy died from natural causes. So it's nothing strange to be sliced in pieces and fed to the vultures. The thing that's awkward is : WHY THE FUCK DID YOU TOOK PHOTOS AND POSTED THEM HERE?

ok at first I thought it was kinda disturbing, but it's really up to people how they want to be burried or whatever, and I was really glad for the explantaion. wink It's awesome learning about new coultures. I don't think I'd ever want it done, but I wouldn't stop other people from doing it, and I'd support them. But I don't think I'd go, I don't like birds.

#61 | 25 Sep 2009 22:25 by Costin

Oky let me clear up the Mind of the Sick bastards that are here , 90% of the persons who wach the photos are realy so underage that they dont undestand the RITUAL

The photo are taikent in a Country where wen you die you can do wat you want with your body so the person who is been the "Victim" here he is already dead (cary on on the motocilce) wen they arive in ta vally of the Vulturs (Condors)

So the dead person ask te relativ (Friends) wen he is dead the body to be given to the condors so his spirit can fly among them recourse recourse recourse "Dont ask me why he beleve that" is the same wen you burn your body or you give your body to the sharks (Trown in the sea) or give the body to the Worms (burry in a cemetry)

The same proces is here

THE CONDORS EAT DEAD ANIMALS ( They are the sanitars of the sky) (please use the google sick bastards to get more info)

The world you are livin it is not as the virtual world where you die and Reset your player , the wold where is FLESH and Blood , is the BEAUTY of Choise , and you shood accept it

Say in your mind the words of your god to fogive that man , and that will be just fine wink

I dont think all the persons undestand the word of BURIAL

in first place mine reaction is JC_OMG_sign
but if U respect different culture , U will take time to understand why such things they are doing

#63 | 1 Nov 2009 18:17 by Ace

This type of discarding the body is because in this region, the soil is to hard for burials, and wood is very very hard to come by. So cremations are out of the question. So in this Buddhist country, the dead body is seen only as a shell... and discarded in a way that gives back to living creatures as a last gift. Even the bones are ground up to provide food for the smaller creatures. Nothing is wasted. The people in charge of this have become experts at telling how someone has died too. Westerners may let worms do the same thing.. but burials have become so secretive. As soon as someone dies, the body is swiftly taken away, and dressed up in nice cloths, and put into fancy boxes. It has become a waste of money, and many times a financial burden, or even a show of wealth just to bury a loved one. Personally, I would like my organs to be given to those in need, and then have my body turned into fish food. :D

I don't know why people get so touchy about death and burial stuff... it's not like a person has any use for their body after they've kicked it. The notion of "respect for the dead" is stupid. They're dead and thus require no respect!

The Zoroastrians also practice this, but they place their dead in special TOWERS in trenches on the roof. They believe that burial defiles the earth, cremation defiles fire, and burial at sea defiles water. 35 I can't recall what zoroastrains do in America. They have been persecuted for ages. by Moslems.

The Witnesses, Adventists, etc., do not believe in the soul, but that we must be re-created out of the nearest garbage on hand, in the future. How can we be the same person then ?

To #77 - Just the same, my father, a great friend and good listener, passed on suddenly in 2003. My mother passed on in 2007. I loved them both. Somehow I feel that I would show great DISrespect by putting them out for vultures.
These bodies are hacked to facilitate the vulture feast. After the first pass, further shredding to enable the vultures to finish the meal.

Lastly, this man looked young. He must have died of disease, accident or some other UNnatural cause.
